About Us
Our History
I started Nic Sproson Opticians in 1996, within the city where I grew up. I had worked previously at an opticians in Worcestershire, and as a contact lens specialist for Worcester Eye Hospital.
David Webley and I have worked together since 1984 in different practices, and he joined me early on at Nic Sproson Opticians in Barbourne. We set out as an independent practice to differentiate ourselves from the High Street chains of Opticians, by using only qualified Opticians to dispense glasses; providing a first-class optical service. We have the latest equipment with the most advanced technology to provide “Professional Eye Care and Exceptional Eyewear”, whilst still offering excellent value for money.
We provide specialist Contact Lens fitting, especially for those with more complicated prescriptions.
The practice recently celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2021, and many patients have been with me all this time. We have done the Eye Testing for Worcestershire County Cricket Club and Worcester Warriors Rugby Club, and we continue to offer sports vision care. We have a reputation for dealing with complex prescriptions, turning them into the most advanced specialist spectacle lenses. Furthermore, we are dedicated to problem-solving to help our patients. We receive many referrals from our local Ophthalmology Consultants, to help with their patient’s care.
We have a great team of Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians, who have been with me many years. I am very proud of them and the quality of their work. Finally, no practice can survive without a great admin team, and mine are the best.

Eye Appointments
For each Eye Appointment we allow a minimum of 30 minutes, and 45 minutes for everyone over 40 to include full glaucoma screening.
This allows us to give your eyes a comprehensive, detailed examination.
Our Consulting Room is fitted with the best equipment, incorporating the latest technology.
Expert Opticians
All types of contact lenses are fitted by our expert Opticians.
We give a first class contact lens aftercare service.
Qualified
All dispensing and fitting of Spectacles is done by our qualified Dispensing Opticians, whose expertise ensures you get the best vision and comfort from your glasses.
Welcoming Reception
Our welcoming reception staff will help you have an enjoyable visit.
